If you have an existing SMSF you might want to move it over to Superannuation Warehouse. We can easily take over the administration, accounting and taxation functions of your existing SMSF.

You might wonder what the process is if you want to move from Superannuation Warehouse to another provider. The good news is that we have never had a Fund that moved away from us (we have been operating for 2 years now), and we strive to keep it this way. If you do decide to leave us, there’s no cost involved and all Fund files are always up to date. So it can just be handed over.

The steps to Transfer a Fund over to Superannuation Warehouse are as follows:
1. Send us an email instruction to take over your existing SMSF. Include your SMSF name, the Tax File Number and existing accountant or administrator name.
2. Superannuation Warehouse will contact the current accountant or administrator and request your SMSF files and records to be tranferred to us with an ethical letter.
3. We review your file for completeness ensuring all lodgements are up to date.
4. We will appoint Superannuation Warehouse as your Tax Agent.

Your obligation – to supply us with all your records in an Excel or electronic downloaded format. This enables us to import all you SMSF transactions electronically and perform an effective and efficient service. Items not available in Excel can be scanned and emailed or posted to us in the snail mail.

We strive to work paperless as much as possible. But rest assured, we keep a paper file for each Fund containing a hard copy of your SMSF records as well.

Note that we charge a once off fee of $475 for a SMSF take-on. This covers the costs of obtaining your Fund records. If previous year accounts and tax returns are outstanding, we will charge $950 per year to complete the accounts, tax and audit per year.

Once your SMSF is transferred to Superannuation Warehouse, you can choose to have either the $39 plan or the $79 plan. This is a monthly fixed fee irrespective of the number of the number of transactions in the SMSF.  We will send you a direct debit form so we can deduct the monthly fee directly off your SMSF bank account.

The monthly fee includes the accounting, tax and audit costs. Note that we use an independant auditor and will appoint the auditor on behalf of your SMSF. There is no cost to the SMSF for the auditor as Superannuation Warehouse pays the auditor from the monthly fee we receive.

To transfer your SMSF to Superannuation Warehouse, you might prefer to rather phone us or email us.

Questions & Answers

Q: What are the costs involved if Superannuation Warehouse takes over my SMSF in November?
A: Apart from the take-on fee ($475) we charge $950 to complete prior year accounts and tax returns (not all SMSF's have an administrator as diligent as Superannuation Warehouse, you know...). We then charge monthly from 31 July onwards, either $39 or $79, depending on the plan you choose. So if we take over a SMSF in November we will charge for 4 months initially and then regularly from November onwards. We will ensure your SMSF accounts and tax are completed on a timely basis. This is all taken care of with a debit order, so it will go off your bank account on a monthly basis.

Q: Is there a minimum amount of time, eg 12 or 24 months to be committed to the Superannuation Warehouse administration service?
A: There is no minimum time to commit to Superannuation Warehouse and there's no penalty fee to move your Fund to another accountant \ administrator. We provide an excellent service at a fair fee and am confident your will remain as a client. If you do decide to use another provider, we have an updated soft copy and hard copy file to hand over to your new accountant.

Q: What does the take on fee cover?
A: We will contact your previous accountant with an ethical letter advising them of our appointment for your SMSF. We will appoint ourselves as Tax Agent of your SMSF with the Tax Office. Note that we always leave your address on the ATO records so you receive all paper correspondence from the Tax Office. If we do not receive a copy of the Trust Deed, previous accounts and audit report as well as the tax return from your  previous accountant, we will ask you for a copy.

Q: What documents should I send to Superannuation Warehouse?
A: There's 5 documents we need and these are:
    1. Trust Deed
    2. Minutes of Meetings
    3. Investment Strategy
    4. Trustee Declaration
    5. Consent to act as Trustee and Member Application
We will contact your previous accountant and request copies of these documents. If they do not have it, we will ask you for a copy. If you don't have a copy, you can downlaod copies of these documents, sign it and send us a copy. We prefer a scanned copy, or you can post it to us. Free downloads of these documents and other useful SMSF documentation is available from the FREE DOWNLOADS page. If you send us a paper copy, we will scan and save it on our system and post the paper copy back to you.
